The Medal of Honor, introduced this year and designated to honor those who have made significant achievements in the fields of art, design, creativity, culture, education and their communities, will be bestowed on the Barbers by Audry K Carter, Vice Chair of Pennsylvania College of Art & Design Board of Trustees. She will be assisted by PCA&D President Michael Molla and Trustee Russell Urban.
Following the presentation of the award, Deb and Rob Barber will address the Class of 2019 with a multi-media Commencement address.

Locally, Mr. Barber is an active community leader having served on the Boards of the Lancaster Office of Promotions and Lancaster Farmland Trust. Nationally, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Parnelli Awards, which recognizes high-level achievement in the Touring and Live Event industry.
Deborah Barber joined Nimblist in 2015 as the Vice President of Operations. She is a champion of the people who brings a sense of organizational and operational calm to an industry otherwise known for its disheveled, disorganized, and frantic timeframes. Nimblist, founded by PCA&D Trustee Spike Brant, is a bi-coastal company with a focus on lighting and production design, along with being good stewards to the environment. Clients include Bon Jovi, NFL, Robin Hood Foundation, Future, to name a few.
Prior to joining Nimblist, Ms. Barber was the Creative Director at Graphtech where she built a design division and oversaw all creative development. Design also played an important role when she was the Director of Creative and Technology Services at the PA Medical Society where she was responsible for overseeing the design, creative content, and marketing for over 30 associations and more than 60,000 web pages.
Ms. Barber was also the owner of a design company with a strong focus on women in business and served as the Special Projects Manager for the Bureau of Travel Marketing under the Casey Administration. She has been recognized with national design awards throughout her career and has long been recognized for her eye on design.
Ms. Barber is an active community leader and serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Lancaster and Fundraising Committee of Music for Everyone. Along with Mr. Barber, she is the Co-Founder of Leadership Lancaster’s Leaders Circle Scholarship Committee.
PCA&D is pleased to include the Barbers, national - yet local - design leaders, in the 2019 Commencement Ceremony.
