Using the principles of design and art history as a foundation, your pre-teen / teen will learn the significance of thinking like an artist as they learn a mix of different art-making techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpting, and more. Lessons will help inform and enhance their personal development as a young artist. Using traditional tools and methods in creative ways, your child will learn to maximize their creativity and printmaking skills with multi-layered reducation prints as well as single-layer hand rubbed prints.

This course is an introduction to the world of digital photography and the unique opportunities and challenges it presents. Start shooting in manual mode, learn basic photographic composition, image control, digital image processing with Adobe Lightroom, simple retouching with Adobe Photoshop, as well as editing, storing, and prepping your files for print.

Take the first step to realizing your dream of working in the computer animation field by gaining an introduction to the 3D animation software, Autodesk Maya. Learn the basics of animation aesthetics, concepts, and history through a series of exercises, discussions and screenings. Figure drawing will focus on teaching fundamental drawing and observational skills with emphasis on composition, design, proportion, and human anatomy. A nude model will be present almost daily. Students will learn to observe the human form in various poses and the majority of class time will be spent drawing. Components of the class include regular critiques, basic lessons on anatomy and discussing and practicing the benefits of different drawing speeds – from quick gestural sketches to longer, more studied poses. The importance of personal style and expression will be emphasized.

Is telling stories your thing? Do you ever think of it playing out through pictures in you head? Storyborading gives the story a visual life and sees it played out over a number of illustrated panels. This can be great for any artist, but those particularly interested in visual storytelling, illustration, concept art, digital media, or animation.

The class will guide you through building a finished storyboard. Starting with concept building and the foundations of storyboard terminology and its visual vocabulary/symbolism. Moving on into panel creation and critical thinking. Resulting in the final construction, and reveal of your finished Storyboard!

Learn the essential skills and techniques of drawing fashion figures and the research process that goes into fashion illustration. Drawing methods used in the industry will be demonstrated, starting with idea development and progressing to a completed concept and illustration board that includes actual fabrics.
