Last semester The Art for Social Good class had an amazing opportunity to work with Pavone, a Harrisburg based advertising and marketing agency and The Pennsylvania Medical Society. The students were tasked to come up with artwork that may be used for promoting PAMED in newspaper/magazine ads, billboards, etc. that fit the following categories: Time, Money, or Autonomy.

Every year for 10 years, non-profits from Central Pennsylvania have brought their needs for professional-quality design materials to Pennsylvania College of Art &Design’s American Institute of Graphic Arts Student Chapter (AIGA) for the annual Designathon. Every year, PCA&D students, aided by faculty members and PCA&D alumni (and lots of coffee), create brochures, logos, t-shirts, posters, websites and more during a 24 hour period.

Student Ambassasor Brigitte Errickson, Fine Art major from Changewater, NJ, and the Warren County Technical School, laughs out load at almost anything. “I am very easily amused. I absolutely adore puns and wordplay.”

As she was searching for colleges, PCA&D was the only college she looked at that was specifically an art school, and she liked how focused it was. “I also was really attracted to the small size, and I really like that I can get the help I need in class.”

Julya, a senior photography major from Parkesburg, PA, is one of PCA&D’s Student Ambassadors, a team of students who help in the Admissions Department and share their College experiences to visitors to PCA&D.

In Leah's Senior Studio: Rick Price, Jackie Price, Megan Price, Leah Walt, Jacob Price, Jordan Price, and Evelyn, Sophia and Mason Price.

"It would be hard to explain the kind of person Mom was, but the person who would understand would be an artist," said Jordan Price, son of the late Cynthia Price. 

 J. Richard "Rick" Price and his two sons Jacob and Jordan, along with their families, created the Cynthia E. Price Memorial Scholarship, a one-time scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year, to remember her, an artist and craftswoman who worked, lived, and loved in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  

Leah Walt, a PCA&D Senior Fine Art student, was the recipient of the scholarship. She expressed gratitude for the family's effort in making her collegiate dreams easier during an opportunity to give the entire Price family a tour of PCA&D.

The exhibition at the Main Gallery at PCA&D this summer features a selection of outstanding artwork created by our rising junior and senior BFA students. A wide variety of media are represented including digital and hand-painted works, illustration, sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography and graphic design. The exhibit runs through July 21.
