Tamera Teets is a Lancaster County native and has loved art since childhood. She has a passion for nature, shown in her colorful, finely detailed paintings. Her hope for her artwork is to bring the beauty and tranquility of nature to the viewer, and she shares her creative passion with all of her students.

When you walk into Tamera's classroom her love for both the art and the students clearly shows.

Tamera's medium of choice is acrylic paint because of the vibrant colors and the ability to manipulate the paint into a variety of textures. She also enjoys that arcylic paints can look and feel like watercolor or oils depending how you work with them.

Her Favorite quote comes from Georgia O'Keeffe, another female painter who was inspired by the by nature, specifically New Mexico Landscapes. O'Keefe said, " I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way- things I had no words for."

It's no wonder that Ms. Teets dedicates her time to teaching young students,.

Her first related art memory reaches back to when she was in third grade. "I did a painting project in elementary school that 5th graders did and I was in third grade and was asked to show my work and pose with the 2 best fifth graders for a newspaper photo and article."

While that may have been her first time in the news for her artwork, it wouldn't be the last, in January 2014 her work was spotted on the walls of local art gallery, Red Raven, alongside Robert Andriulli, Fred Roger, and Art Harrington.

This Fall you can find Tamera teaching Middle School Drawing.
