Or perhaps "Hat's On!"
American's oldest hat manufacturer, Bollman Hat Company," of Adamstown, was excited to be part of Pennsylvania College of Art & Design's 2019 Commencement ceremonies by designing and creating the new graduation berets, a traditional symbol of the artist, worn for the first time by the Class of 2019 during their May 3rd Commencement.
"It was wonderful to see all the students with their berets and being part of the celebration. That was such a great collaboration," said Jaime Shoenfelt, Executive Assistant to President & CEO, Bollman Hat Company. Pictured Jamie, in the background, wearing a beret, with Don Rongione, President, and CEO of Bollman, rocking a PCA&D Peacock feather in his hat during the ceremony.
But that's not the only newly formed connection between PCA&D and this iconic Lancaster County business, founded in 1868. During the Senior Show and Celebration, Don and Jamie met graduate Kathryn Mikus and talked with her about her exhibition which included wearables bearing her own designs.
Ten days later, Kathryn (pictured wearing her PCA&D commencement beret) started at Bollman Hat, assisting with innovation! Congratulations to both Kathyrn and Bollman Hat!
According to PCA&D President Mike Molla, this is the beginning a a great relationship, "Ron and I will be meeting later this summer to craft a potential learning engagement project, focusing on the artist innovator and entrepreneurship."
