One of the friendly faces greeting prospective art students at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is Julya Nichols, a junior photography major from Octorara High School, Parkesburg, PA and  2016-17 PCA&D Student Ambassador.

If you are coming to a PCA&D Open House, such as the one on  Saturday, November 19, you'll see Julya as you tour around the College.

Casey Capece, a junior Graphic Design major from Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, MD, is our featured student ambassador of the week. Casey was attracted to PCA&D because of its affordable cost, the program and curriculum, and how close it is to her Maryland home.

She enjoys her role as a student ambassador, especially helping guide other possible students because the decision process can be hard and stressful.

No matter how the college brochures and website make the program seem like a perfect fit, it is during the visit where you get a true sense of the environment and can imagine yourself in that place. There are a number of ways to visit a college, the two most common are at an Open House or scheduling a Personal Tour.

Concept Artistry Sound Complicated? Let's Take a Look!

Concept artistry, often referred to as concept design or illustration, conveys a visual representation of a design or idea before it's put into the final product, or rather, before it exists. In other words, the goal is to convey overall design vision rather than define everything in exact terms. So, why is concept artistry necessary?

We live in a world where there are infinite possibilities and infinite possibilities can also bring infinite opportunities for errors. Concept art is key to focusing that one artistic vision and making sure all kinks are ironed out before they can become problems down the line.
