The Council for Art Education (CFAE) is celebrating March as Youth Art Month, encouraging support for quality art programs for youth in schools and in the community.  “Building Community Through Art” is the theme of this year’s Youth Art Month, which was created in in 1961 as an event to emphasize the value to children from participating in visual art education.

Stephanie Deininger, who teaches Youth Studio Art Classes for the Continuing Education Department, grew up in Philadelphia and moved to the  Lancaster area to attend college, majoring in Art and Art Education at Millersville University.  Some of her other interests besides teaching and creating art are: yoga, traveling, cooking, hiking, and interior design.

When I walked into Lindsay Hoke's classroom, the space was buzzing with excitement and energy as students worked on creating " Color Wheel Pizzas". Students were eager to tell me all that they were learning about color theory, and even more excited to show me the Jackson Polluck inspired action paintings they'd recently created.
